Acknowledgement of Country
Immunisation Hub acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land in Sunshine where the pharmacy is based. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community.
We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live, work, study and visit the lands across Brimbank and the wider western suburbs of Melbourne. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
We aim to provide respectful, culturally safe care and to listen to each person’s needs. Funding depends on the current program, age, health and Medicare criteria. A clinician confirms what applies, and patients can choose community-controlled health services.
We thank the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) for the leadership they provide on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and we encourage anyone needing culturally specific primary care to consider their services alongside ours.
Brimbank includes both Wurundjeri and Bunurong Country. Off-site programs should acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of their actual location. Brimbank Council provides local information and links to the relevant Traditional Owner organisations.
