Diversity and inclusion
A vaccination service has to work for everyone in its community — not just the patients who fit a default template. Here is how that commitment shows up in the day-to-day operation of the clinic.
Immunisation Hub is committed to providing accessible, respectful and culturally safe vaccination services to every person who walks through our doors. We celebrate the diversity of the Sunshine community and we recognise that genuine inclusion requires action, not just words. The standard of care we provide does not change with language, faith, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, immigration status or any other characteristic.
Cultural and linguistic diversity
Sunshine is one of the most multicultural pockets of Melbourne. The immuniser and pharmacy team between them speak Vietnamese, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Greek, Macedonian, Albanian, Bosnian, Somali, Bengali and Filipino — please ask at the counter for your preferred language. For any other language we can also arrange a free interpreter via the National Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National, 131 450).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which we deliver care. Vaccinations free under the National Immunisation Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are clearly highlighted in our pricing and eligibility tools, and we are committed to delivering culturally safe care.
LGBTIQA+ communities
We use the name and pronouns you ask us to use. The vaccinations particularly relevant to LGBTIQA+ adults — including the state-funded mpox program, hepatitis A and B, HPV catch-up and meningococcal — are offered without judgement and with full confidentiality. See our LGBTIQA+ vaccinations page for details.
People with disability and neurodivergent patients
The clinic is wheelchair accessible. We can arrange longer appointments, quieter times of day, and step-by-step explanations for patients with sensory sensitivities, intellectual disability, or anyone who finds clinical environments difficult. Please mention your needs at booking and we will make it work.
Religious and cultural practices
We respect every patient's religious and cultural practices around healthcare, including the use of trusted family members as informal interpreters where preferred, modesty considerations, and dietary or fasting concerns relevant to vaccine timing. Tell us what you need.
If your experience at our clinic has ever fallen short of this commitment, please tell us. Feedback — including uncomfortable feedback — makes the service better for the next person. The pathways are listed on the Client Rights and Responsibilities page.
